Testing and Measurements of Products and Materials

IK Protection Code Verification

IK protection code verification is intended to assess the resistance of enclosures, electrical cabinets, devices, and electrical and electronic components to external mechanical impacts, such as accidental knocks or intentional acts of vandalism.

The IK rating is defined by the IEC/EN 62262 standard and is expressed by the abbreviation IK followed by two digits (for example, IK08 or IK10), indicating the impact energy, in joules, that the product can withstand without suffering functional or structural damage.

These tests are essential for devices installed in public, industrial, or outdoor environments, where they may be exposed to knocks, impacts, or attempted tampering. Testing is performed in the laboratory using certified equipment, such as calibrated impact pendulums or free-fall hammers, in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements.

Our laboratory performs IK tests on a wide range of products, helping to ensure the robustness and durability of solutions used in critical applications, while improving safety and end-user confidence.
