Energy Performance
The aim of the project was to develop reliable, scientifically validated systems for measuring and assessing the energy and environmental performance of existing and newly constructed buildings. The project also aimed to establish appropriate procedures to ensure that measurements were effective and comparable.
More specifically, the project focused on designing and developing equipment capable of meeting the requirements for certified measurements of buildings’ energy and environmental performance, as well as supporting the activities and services provided by professionals, energy managers and public authorities.
- Design and develop equipment suitable for certified measurements of energy and environmental performance.
- Define traceability procedures for the instruments used in energy assessments, energy performance certification, building sustainability assessments and indoor environmental quality checks.
- Establish a regional calibration and reference centre for measurement instruments.
- Promote methodologies and best practices throughout the professional supply chain involved in building energy certification and sustainability assessment.
- Develop a transferable model for the certification and accreditation of measurement systems used to measure selected physical quantities characterising the energy and environmental performance of buildings.
Tecnolab contributed to all stages of the project, with a particular focus on the analysis, study and development of a reproducible, standardised measurement system for determining the thermal conductivity of buildings.
This measurement system was validated and put into use at Tecnolab.
